Insights from a prophet's life 10.14.14 am

"I don't like fences" President Russell M. Nelson

"Your role is to share what is in your heart, and live consistent with your beliefs...yours is to love God and to love your neighbors, and his children." Deiter F. Uchtdorf

Many many continue to say religion is the cause of evil, and fighting, and discrimination. I say those that say this have never been serious students of the scriptures to discover if this is the truth. Yes, some search small passages of the scripture to find inflammatory statements that they can use to say 'see, they are bigots and X and Y', but the message of Jesus Christ is clear - the first great commandment is to love God with all your heart, and the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Our message is we truly do need to love our neighbor as ourselves! Brown skin, yellow skin, black skin and white skin alike. I am blessed to follow a living prophet who points me to Jesus Christ and his message of peace and love. Our living prophet today is Russell M. Nelson. I am just finishing up my second reading of the book "Insights From a Prophet's Life: Russell M Nelson" by Sheri Dew. This is a man that has practiced the Lord's teachings.

Episode 79 of the book details an interview with a renowned Argentinian and Italian journalist, Sergio Rubin, the official biographer of Pope Francis. Among other things, President Nelson was asked about religious extremists using religion as a front for violent acts. President Nelson responded, "The teachings of the Lord are clear, there is to be no contention, no disputation. Muslims unfairly experience discrimination because of the acts of radicalized Muslims. They are our brothers and sisters, and we don't like adversarial proceedings between them and us." In the same interview President Nelson also said of immigration, "We teach that we should build bridges of cooperation, instead of fences of opposition. I don't like fences"

Oh how I wish all my brothers and sisters would read and hear these words!

Much love
